Welcome to HY Counselling

Hello, I’m Helen Young and I am a qualified Humanistic Gestalt Counsellor. I believe that I am a friendly and professional counsellor who provides a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space in which to share and explore your concerns.

I offer individual counselling to adults of all ages and I have experience of counselling clients with a range of presenting issues.

I value your uniqueness as an individual and recognise you to be the expert of your experience. I aim to support you in resolving issues you’re facing in your life. I listen to you and through doing so I offer you counselling sessions that meet your individual needs. I provide a client led approach to counselling and can offer both short and long term counselling.

I will work with you and support you in a friendly, caring and empathetic way with sessions being neuro-affirmative and LGBTQ+ friendly. At present I can offer online or telephone counselling sessions to anyone within the UK. I also offer sessions in-person at my private practice, in Fareham, Hampshire.

I am a member for the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I am guided by the ethical framework of the BACP which ensures that I work in an ethical and safe way.

How I can help?

You’ve taken the first big step to seek help and below is a list of some of the issues that I cover (this list is not exhaustive). One area that I specialise in is autism and other neurodivergent profiles (for example: ADHD, Tourette’s Syndrome, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia) and it is outlined here. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or queries that you may have.

I offer a free 20 minute phone consultation to help you decide if I am the ‘right’ counsellor for you.

Some of the ways that I could help make a difference to you include: providing psychological education, helping you to normalise or understand your experiences, helping you to manage your experiences, helping you understand what is possibly causing your experiences and if useful creating an action plan.
